The Rainbow Bridge at Rose Hill
These are the guys and girls who have been a part of our family and
have gone on to peace and a heavenly existence.
....there was Jenko
We will never forget our Jenko. He was our third
Cairn Terrier and the stuff champions are made of. When he walked, he
had a graceful bounce and an air about him that said, "Look at me, I'm a
winner."

Though he was already almost eight when he joined us, he
made an indelible mark on all of us and so many others. When he was
feeling confident, he was a well-mannered and very dignified boy. The
only thing he lacked was a good sense of humor, but that was a reflection of
his prior life. He could be playful, but then became wary too easily.
He loved his walks to the boat landing and would tease us into a
stop-and-sniff every time he walked by the spot where once a piece of hot
dog bun had been left for him to sample. He loved meal time and a good
scratch right above his tail. He became a go-along dog and took to the
center console as guardian of the vehicle and its occupants. Even as
he neared the end and was very ill, he still rose to that spot with all the
strength he could muster. His struggle with IBD was probably for his
entire life and took him from us too soon, at twelve years and ten months.
It is nice to think of him as a free and happy spirit, frolicking by the
Rainbow Bridge.

We loved you, boy, and miss you terribly.

Orkie at twelve
Orchestra,
as we refer to this little imp, lost his former master and needed a new
home. This all happened to him when he was nearly nine and we often
wonder how it must have been for him to learn so many "new tricks." He
was a sassy guy who acted about half his age part of the time and then
crashed like an old fogey when he wore himself to a frazzle. He was a
Yorkie, through and through, no doubt about that!
We lost our Ork at sixteen. He kept it together as
long as he could, considering the arthritis that plagued him in later years.
Even the bounce in his walk belied the pain our little guy endured. He
was a showman and a real tough guy to the end.

Sam (pictured at twelve) and Sande (pictured at thirteen)

Sam had been with us since he was eight. His former
owner went off to college and their long and loving relationship ended
rather abruptly. He was a love - thought he was the only dog in the
house, though. He had pretty wild dreams, sometimes waking up the
whole house with his screeching!
Our Sammy left us at
age 14, leaving a really big hole in our hearts. He was our very good
boy who liked everyone and just wanted to be with his people.

Our very special girl dog, Sande, was our first Cairn
Terrier. She found us when she was two, adopted us, and taught us that
life would never be the same without someone like her. She made her
last trip to Tettegouche with us in October of 2003. We will never
forget her and the 12 years she spent being our protector, our talker, and
our beloved momma dog.
