Introducing our pups...
Liza at Four

Liza was born in Eden Valley. She came to us one fine
day in May. Had broasted chicken on the way home and her first walk on a
leash. Little did we know she would be our brilliant athlete, bounding
three feet off the ground to catch her favorite ball. She is a
tender-hearted Yorkie with a little white chin that looks like a "got milk"
commercial. Liza is eight now and has had surgery for a sports injury to
her rear leg. It was a long process, but very successful and she
continues to play ball with the same reckless abandon as ever.
Mandy at Seven Weeks
Baby Amanda
came to us from her home with her mom, dad, brothers and sisters who lived
near Long Prairie. She was a really tiny girl, less than 3 pounds, back
then. In six months, she grew a lot more hair, her ears stood up
and she has learned so many things!
In the next photo, she is all grown up... (well,
almost)
We'll keep you
posted on her color. With Cairns, they always say, "If you don't like
the color, wait a while - it will change." She has a coat of many colors
and her "stripes" are in new places all the time.

She still is basically the same colors at age two, but the black tip on
her tail is going to be hard to keep, I think. (It wouldn't matter a lot
as it is rarely still long enough to see the tip as the blur in this photo
shows.)
Red Squirrel Alert

This one shows the hunter in her - prey on the other side of a rose
bush must be oblivious to her readiness to pounce. She is FAST!!!
She is four now and lives up to the breed standard of the most stubborn
type of Terrier ever domesticated. And now there are two of them!
Introducing Jenko...
If he looks like he is in jail, that would pretty well describe his
transition to his new family. Jenko (aka Jnco) came here at age seven
having been evicted by a cruel landlord. His owner wanted him to stay,
but Simon Legree said no, only the aging Westie could live out her life at
that address. Pretty devastating to a proud Cairn with champions in his
home litter. However....
The first thing he did was attack little Orkie, apparently taking a
dislike to anything that small trying to pass for anything but prey. Next,
he bit Sam on both ears, so it wasn't just size. Then it was a
free-for-all brawl with Mandy and that got him serious jail time. Since
he seemed to lack discrimination and had precious little self-control, school
and a dog shrink came next, along with some heavy-duty restrictions by a
gentle leader and/or crate. Fast forward a very long two years and I
would say he had made some real progress. He almost blew it, but has
managed to turn things around enough to have captured the hearts and minds of
this pack, so this is home and he's working every day to accept that.
Having turned ten in August, we only hope he will "live out his life" without
an eviction like the last one. He is a love and is loving - he just was
very badly hurt by circumstances way beyond his control.

Here is Jenko on duty as a Project Dog, making sure no one messes with the
equipment on this construction trailer on the site of a new home. |
